Well, unfortunately I fucked up a little. I increased the axle to crown by 8mm from the last fork I made for a bunch of reasons from 370mm to 378mm. The Paul’s racer brake will mount and clear and everything, but with the Paul’s brakes I’ll need a big fat spacer under the crown to bring the fender down and allow the brakes to fully open, and that’s just not acceptable. I feared this situation and Ta-da. Fortunately Mafac Raids to the rescue. Actually the brakes I wanted to use because I actually have a pair, and only one Paul’s racer, but no braze ons for the Mafacs. They will work with a regular leather washer setup, just. I have a little space left on the credit card, get me some of those Compass puppies. Crap. I wonder if Mariposa has any. Lathe. Self sufficiency. Experience.
