The theme for the Show & Tell session of the November 14 Meeting of the BCD (Jigsaw society) was Modes of Transport. This detail shows the cutting style of (WG Evans & Son) Picture Puzzle Co of Stanhope St London.
Picture Puzzle Co (WG Evans & Son) 329pc A Still Evening at Goring on Thames, by BW Leader. It is at the top of a stack just above a large Enid Stocken puzzle!
The WG Evans puzzles are believed to be cut by Tuck. See Jigasaurus:
" W.G. Evans & Sons, (Woodwork Manufacturers), Williams Mews, Stanhope Street, London, N.W.1, were a little-known and very limited producer of good quality wooden jigsaw puzzles, although this was probably not their main business. Examples are very scarce. Whimsies also featured in some of their puzzles, with popular shapes including flags, horse-heads, stars and swords.
I have seen occasional examples of early "Tuck’s Zag-Zaw" puzzles which match this Evans cutting style, probably indicating a link between the two companies."
