Intermittent fasting is the latest trend that has popped up among people who want to lose weight, fitness enthusiasts and among people who want to keep themselves fit. Many who have tried intermittent fasting have claimed that they can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and can also help you lose weight. 5:2 is one such intermittent fasting type.

The 5:2 type of intermittent fasting is a practice where you eat 25% of your recommended calorie need (approximately 500-600 calories) for 2 days in a week while you eat normally for the remaining 5 days of the week. The fasting days are usually set as Monday-Thursday or as Tuesday-Friday so that you do not fast for 2 straight days. There is once again 2 variants inside this fasting method. Some people follow a high fat keto diet during their fasting days while some eat zero calories during their fasting days. Whatever may be the type, it needs to be understood that many research are still going around intermittent fasting and most of these are done on animals. Despite that the claims are encouraging and the general advice is to take it slow while you are just beginning to practice intermittent fasting.
